DELGRES
bo LES RASCALS

In Jimmy Laporal-Trésor’s film Les Rascals (2023), music is not a backdrop: it is an engine. The narrative—a clash between suburban youth and skinheads in the tense Paris of 1984—is driven by constant friction, and it is Delgres who embodies this tension in sound.

The trio delivers a nervous, organic soundtrack tailored for the screen, featuring short, syncopated, often instrumental tracks that cling to the movement of bodies and the escalating drama. "Watch Out," sung in Creole, acts as a warning—with its relentless rhythm, saturated dobro guitar, breathless sousaphone line, and a deep, hypnotic vocal. The rest of the OST is designed as a series of musical vignettes with gritty textures, blending Delta blues, filthy rock, and minimalist Caribbean grooves.

Delgres never overemphasizes. Their music breathes with the image, embracing silences, ruptures, and sudden bursts of energy. Each track feels like a sonic long-take: rhythmic tension, granular density, and a sharp, direct attack. The soundtrack was developed in close collaboration with the director from the very first demos to serve the narrative and strengthen the film’s historical and emotional roots. This is music of urgency, of the streets, and of the gut.
