LES CADETS DE BOURGOGNE

Born in the heart of the wine-growing traditions of Côte-d’Or, Les Cadets de Bourgogne are far more than a male choir: they embody a living culture of ancient cellars, grape harvests, and grand communal tables where song and wine intertwine. Heirs to a festive and deeply rooted oral heritage, they carry a generous and popular choral voice, blending sung brotherhood with a celebration of the terroir. Led by Choir Master Jean-Bernard Guiboux, they draw from a rich regional repertoire passed down through generations with rare musical precision.

Recorded in 2023 within the Cistercian cellar of the Château du Clos de Vougeot—the iconic home of the Confrérie des Chevaliers du Tastevin—the album Chansons Bachiques (Bacchic Songs) captures the spirit of a Burgundian evening in all its acoustic warmth. Directed by Jean-Bernard Guiboux and recorded by Michel Pierre (Natalie Dessay, Jaroussky, Les Arts Florissants), the project features 21 tracks blending French song classics (La Fanchon, Quand Madelon, Chevaliers de la table ronde, Le Ban bourguignon) with original creations (La Recette de la meurette, Le Bourguignon vermeil, Mon verre, Camarade vigneron...). The choir is accompanied by the Petit Orchestre du Clos de Vougeot (clarinet, trumpet, trombone, tuba, and piano).

Moving between powerful choruses, popular airs, and traditional harmonies, Chansons Bachiques is a precious sonic archive—at once joyful, authentic, and finely produced.
