A Spanish artist, Rocío Márquez embodies contemporary flamenco at its highest level, through the transcendence of her singing, her deep-rooted knowledge of her art, and her constant innovation. Her excellence was recognized from the start in 2008 at the Festival Internacional del Cante de las Minas in La Unión, where she was awarded the prestigious “Lámpara Minera” prize.
 
In 2025, she unveiled Himno Vertical, her seventh album and the fruit of her relentless research, blending flamenco, classical music, and sonic experimentation. Alongside guitarist Pedro Rojas Ogáyar, their duo perfectly fuses tradition and modernity, offering an introspective and groundbreaking work that pushes the boundaries of flamenco. In 2020, she became the first Spanish artist to win a Victoire de la Musique (World Music Album category) for Visto en el Jueves. In 2022, together with producer Bronquio, she presented Tercer Cielo, a radical and sumptuous record unanimously acclaimed by critics (named Best Album of 2022 by Télérama and Le Monde, among others).

This intense creative activity has not kept her from pursuing high-profile artistic collaborations (Orchestre National d’Île-de-France, Royal Philharmonic of Liège, Jorge Drexler, Rosa Torres-Pardo, Ensemble Aedes, Opéra National du Rhin, etc.), completing a doctoral thesis on vocal technique in flamenco, and engaging actively in civil society.
